Khen Rinpoche Geshe Tashi Tsering, abbot of Sera Mey monastery, guides us through His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s sadhana, The Inseparability of the Spiritual Master and Avalokitashvara. Written by His Holiness, this text is a perfect introduction to tantric practice.
Geshe Tashi begins this final class in the series with some persuasive reasons why we are so fortunate in the life we have, with its rich and varied access to the dharma. Particularly relevant to our online community, and the situation many of us find ourselves in, he cites His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s reply to a question about finding a teacher during Covid. Our main teacher, His Holiness says, should be the texts, and there are many trustworthy texts available. As ever, the path is in our hands.
Finishing up the glance meditation on the lam rim, Geshe la explains the different types and levels of “bliss”, and the roles bliss plays throughout our spiritual path, especially here in cutting the root of our cyclic rebirths in samsara.
Geshe la then guides us through potentially the most rewarding part of this sadhana, our “merging with the spiritual master”. Unlike many other sadhana practices, here there is no dissolution of the deity, meaning His Holiness, Chenrezig, the letter Hrih, the Chenrezig mantra, with their radiant influence, all remain deep in our hearts for the rest of the day and night.
Geshe la never fails to give us an oral transmission of the texts he teaches, and this time is no exception.
Thank you for joining us and contributing to this beautiful, profound series. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
With best wishes,
