Practising Tantra: His Holiness’s Chenrezig Sadhana Class 5

You are currently viewing Practising Tantra: His Holiness’s Chenrezig Sadhana Class 5

Khen Rinpoche Geshe Tashi Tsering, abbot of Sera Mey monastery, guides us through His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s sadhana, The Inseparability of the Spiritual Master and Avalokitashvara.  Written by His Holiness, this text is a perfect introduction to tantric practice.

In this class, Geshe Tashi discusses how to understand ordinary appearances, and just why it might be that ‘extraordinary’ beings might appear to us as ordinary.  During a brief discussion of the meaning of ‘Evam’, he then describes several different kinds of ‘union.’  This is a word that’s often used in Tantra, but not easily understood.

After covering a number of details of the visualisation, Geshe la goes into quite some detail about how to practice the mantra recitation properly, giving some really helpful tips about how we should go about building up the visualisation along with the recitation.

Beginning his commentary on the section, “A Request to Actualise the Gradual Path”, Geshe la embarks on an overview of the Lam Rim teachings.  On a subject that will resonate with many of us, Geshe la talks about what’s involved in making sure we don’t get sidetracked by all the colourful, distracting appearances of this life.

The class was full of fantastic, accessible, inspiring advice that any of us can practice.  And there’s sure to be more on the way!  Only 2 classes left in this series, so please do join us.

With best wishes,
