Geshe la begins this last class by giving an overview of the text, and giving advice on how best to practice it.
He explains how bringing to mind the Medicine Buddha can help us overcome obstacles to our health, and how bringing to mind Amitayus can help prevent a premature death. This can be helpful, he points out, providing we live our life well.
What does uncontrived faith mean? Geshe Tashi breaks down the meaning of uncontrived and the Buddhist meaning of faith, trust or conviction. He passes on some really helpful advice on how to request teachings.
The concluding paragraphs, Geshe la says, make a beautiful dedication. It will be extremely helpful if we can have this kind of mind at death when we make the connection between this life and the next.
Geshe la received the oral transmission of this text from His Holiness and His Holiness’s tutor Ling Rinpoche, as well as other teachers.
At the end of this class, Geshe la passes the oral transmission onto us.
He also gives a transmission of Amitabha’s mantra.
This is an exceptional class, a fitting end for a wonderful series.
Please join us next week for the first of four classes on Lama Tsongkhapa’s “Hundred Deities of The Joyful Land” Guru Puja. This is one of the earliest texts dedicated to Lama Tsongkhapa, and includes key practices to bring us closer to him and his teachings. Geshe la points out that this topic is “important for us to learn.” See you there!
With best wishes,
